Applications
Fizzy is designed to support physical activity and social engagement across a variety of settings. Its customizable appearance and behaviours make Fizzy suitable for diverse users living, healing, working, and learning in classrooms, hospitals, rehabilitation centres, homes, and care facilities. Below are three key areas where Fizzy is currently being explored and tested.
Education
For education, Fizzy can be used as an open-source platform to learn and explore new ways to control the ball. The under-actuated system combined with a soft shell lends itself perfectly for testing out new controllers and learning algorithms in a safe environment
Children
For children, Fizzy acts as a playmate to encourage spontaneous physical activity in inpatient settings and to promote engagement in special education activities. Its potential have been investigated across diverse cultural settings.
Older adults
For older adults, Fizzy serves as both a preventative and rehabilitative intervention to encourage daily movement and social interaction. Fizzy is currently being explored in homes, care facilities, and rehabilitation centers.
